Dr. Stephen Romeo

Dr. Stephen "Steve" Romeo passed away Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, in his home in Las Vegas, from complications from illnesses from which he had suffered for the last several years. He was born Oct. 5, 1952, in Denver, and graduated from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas.
Steve was commissioned into the Merchant Marine Academy, where he spent one year. He graduated with a degree in zoology from UNR, and attended Kansas State University School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, Steve was a practicing veterinarian for seven years in Pahrump. He then worked in Elko for 25 years, with a practice specializing in large animals.
He retired several years ago for health reasons, moving back to Las Vegas. Steve is survived by his father, Dr. Donald J. Romeo; five brothers, Tom Romeo, Richard Romeo, Donald Romeo Jr. (wife, Teri), Mark Romeo, and Michael Romeo; four sisters, Marcy Humm (husband, Tom), Patty Romeo, Katie Jones, and Polly Becker (husband, Rob); eight nephews; and six nieces. Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara L. (Byrnes) Romeo; and his sister, Terry Romeo.
Services were held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Inurnment followed at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
